The World We Live Today
The World We Live Today
A poem reflecting the state of the world...
A grim
world,
A shackled
one.
A dream
curled,
Back where
it came from.
Treated in
haste,
A thoughtful
deed,
Gone to
waste.
Changing
attitude
Of men and
women
Gone is the
gratitude
Of “stepping
in the shoes of them”.
Doomsday
nears,
Apocalyptic
fears,
Trudging
tears,
No lending
ears.
Voices
unheard,
Actions
flunked.
Leaders
stammer,
On decisions
to come.
We panic at
our dire state,
One never
thought this was our fate.
Our destiny,
so disheartening
No fuel of optimism,
Our
situation, so frightening,
With radical
ideas of nationalism.
40,000 years
of survival
Gone in the
drain.
No second
chance of revival,
It’s a
miracle how we got ourselves into pain.
Doomsday
nears,
Apocalyptic
fears,
Trudging
tears,
No lending
ears.
No equal
rights for the oppressed, colored, even gays
So sad, is
the world we live today.
